This halal-certified Indonesian restaurant chain specialises in serving delicious Ayam Penyet as the name of the restaurant suggests. Each Ayam Penyet set comes with a piece of fried chicken, fried tempe, fried tofu, alongside spicy sambal, steamed rice and blanched vegetables. Speaking of the sambal belachan, it is what that keep many diners from returning as they fall in love with the oh-so-shiok aroma of the sambal belachan, and of course, its unbelievable spiciness. This special sauce is so spicy yet so addictive, and serves as a perfect condiment to the chicken/beef/fish, or even just the rice alone. Furthermore, it is value-for-money given the generous portion offered in each Ayam Penyet set, and what’s more? Ayam Penyet Ria has several outlets located in the town area! Mmm… Sedap!

This open-spaced cafe opened by 3 Muslim friends is highly influenced by the city of Amsterdam, which is reflected from their interior design and menu items. Try the much raved-about fish and chips (recommended as one of the better ones in town!) and the charcoal-grilled juicy beef burger! I AM Cafe is beginning to redefine the local cafe scene with its more-than-decent food and is definitely filling the much-needed void of halal cafes/bistros here!

Fill-a-Pita is a Middle Eastern restaurant operating within a coffee-shop located at first level of the Shenton House, and caters mainly to the lunchtime crowd. It serves Halal vegetarian food and is wildly popular among those working in the CBD! Middle Eastern food is especially hard to come by in Singapore, and decent ones even harder to find. Fill-a-Pita is really a gem. Drop by with your colleagues for a healthy meal after your team building!
